Surround

Surround is a design-build experiment to create an inclosed indoor space for 6 people inside Tsinghua University cafeteria. The project was completed by a team of 6 within 8 weeks from design to making, and to assembly. It explored human scale—the physical and phycological experience of being enclosed in a translucent layer of fabric, and the logic of tectonic—how to organize and connect various parts and materials. Vertical beams are made through bent lamination technic, which is a collaborate team effort and innovated under the time and material constrains.
